As a drummer, being on youtube non-stop looking up everything drum realted has been a pretty time consuming past time. From covers, to live videos, solos, tutorials, you name it, youtube has its never ending sea of drumming videos. With that being said, Chris Dave takes the cake. The pure skill, overall sound, presentation and how he throws his own style on each cover, makes these is one of the best ones I’ve seen yet. Not to mention his song selection is tasteful. Yes, he is taking it farther than Travis Barker’s covers (which I just remembered) and Evan Chapman. And if him covering songs aren’t enough evidence, he just happens to be D’Angelos drummer, the amount skill required to be able to hang with the legendary Pino Palladino, showcases that he has some serious musicianship that goes beyond straight chops.
